Learning From Mistakes

Over the years, we've discovered that meddling with time is as challenging as it sounds. Mistakes happen, timelines collide, and sometimes the repercussions are, well... apocalyptic. But at FOTTR, we believe every failure is just a stepping stone towards refining our methods. Below are a few of our more... memorable mishaps.

• The Dinosaur Debacle: Accidentally reintroduced velociraptors into the food chain. Minimal loss of human life.
• The Viking Plunder Glitch: A recalibration attempt sent Vikings to the early 1800s. Led to a brief surge in raiding culture.
• The Napoleon-Sphinx Affair: A timeline recalibration accidentally placed Napoleon in ancient Egypt, where he briefly served as an advisor to the Pharaoh. This resulted in a mysterious “Napoleon-style” sphinx being constructed, baffling archaeologists for centuries.
• The First Space-Time Collapse: Caused by over-adjustment of historical events, creating a short-lived black hole. All relevant data has been erased.
• The Almost Ice Age: A slight miscalculation sent global temperatures plummeting. The century-long winter only affected unprepared populations.
• The “Invisible Year” Fiasco: Accidentally rendered the year 1582 invisible to human memory. Global confusion ensued, but we figured people would adjust.
• The Hundred Years' Peace Error: A pacification effort mistakenly nullified every war from 1600-1700. Resulted in unchecked overpopulation and famine later “resolved” in 1701.
• The “Enlightened” Plague: Enhanced Enlightenment thinkers with a bit too much intellect. Their innovations led to a premature industrial revolution and several preventable plagues. Oops.
• The Duplicate Lenin Issue: A coding error duplicated Vladimir Lenin across several timelines. His appearance in France and Argentina led to “localized social turbulence.”
• The Bovine Empire: One minor timeline tweak resulted in cows being domesticated as royalty in medieval England. Eventually corrected, though the feudal cow statues still baffle archaeologists.
• The Great Emu Upsurge: Trying to help Australia with an emu population issue backfired when emus were made carnivorous. Minimal survivor loss reported.
• The Clone Wars Trial: A cloning experiment led to entire towns filled with identical citizens. It took years to sort out identities, but fortunately, humans love paperwork.
• The Napoleon “Oversight”: Left Napoleon in charge of the Americas briefly. Resulted in a bizarre map and a new language called “Frenchish” that was quickly forgotten.
• The Great Depression Do-Over: An attempt to alleviate financial woes inadvertently created an extra decade of economic struggle. Those who survived had character-building experiences.
• The Lizard Kingdom: Accidentally evolved lizards into a ruling class in South America. Their reign was relatively peaceful—until the human rebellion in 1932.
• Operation Titanic Shift: Attempted to make the Titanic “unsinkable.” Instead, we ended up with three sinkings across separate timelines. Third time wasn’t the charm.
• The “Three-Napoleon” Conundrum: Napoleon was duplicated twice, leading to three competing Napoleons across Europe. Resulted in highly efficient battles. People will study it for years. Also, this is when we decided enough with Napoleon.
• The “Year Without a Sandwich” Error: Accidentally disrupted global wheat crops for a year, causing a worldwide bread shortage. Apparently, sandwiches are a bigger deal than we realized.
